| Since writing the original
article, Mark Fouxman has come up with an even more amazing SD mic mod
-- his reinvention of the lowly AKG C 1000 S (which did get a top 15
vote
from one of the panelists). The upgrade in sound is amazing and
while I still think the Jim Williams mod of the AKG C 460 B is still
the number
one mod overall, this is my next favorite SD mod. Although the Schoeps
has
more clarity in the high end, the mellow tone of Fouxman's AKG C 1000 S
mod sounds strikingly similar to the CMC64. But don't take my word for it. Hear for yourself. |
